XTracker from OCENS is a vessel tracking and asset monitoring
service reliably delivering to you asset positions from any point
on the globe.
XTracker matches dependable, rapidly delivered,
global position reporting with a compact device which is easy to
install and tamper resistant. This hardware is inexpensive and its
service fees cost-conscious. Quite simply,
XTracker is
the lowest priced, most robust asset tracking device on the market.
Vessel installation is as simple as clamping the device on a pole
with a clear view of the sky and supplying power.
XTracker
starts submitting position reports immediately upon power up. Everything
is controlled from shore, including position reporting and polling
intervals. There are no buttons or switches on the
XTracker
unit. Vessels equipped with
XTracker can be monitored on
a secure website. Position reports can be e-mailed to a predefined
address or downloaded and displayed on vessels using our
OCENS Mail software.

XTracker can track your vessel or asset position anywhere
in the world. No matter if it’s the South or North Pole, the mid-Sahara
or on any of the world’s oceans,
XTracker delivers location
information on the spot. It can do so because
XTracker
uses the Iridium satellite system to relay positions from your vessel
or asset to you. Iridium is the only satellite service which provides
truly global, pole-to-pole coverage through its constellation of
64 satellites. Tracking services based on other satellite systems
suffer from coverage gaps in at least some, if not many, locations.
XTracker is able to deliver position updates to you in
just seconds. Its use of the Iridium low-earth orbiting satellite
constellation, located just a few hundred kilometers above the earth,
keeps delivery times very low. In contrast, other tracking systems
base their tracking services on satellites based 30,000 kilometers
or more in space. Long latencies (in some cases up to 8 hours) are
typical of these services. Position delivery delays jeopardize your
capacity to meaningfully monitor and protect your vessels, cargo,
or other assets. In contrast, with
XTracker these important
positions are delivered to you just seconds after they are recorded,
no matter the location of your asset on the face of the earth.
XTracker comes in two hardware configurations. Its Block
design (left) is a 6.7 x 3.5 x 3.9 in (170 x 90 x 100 mm) box while
the Dome configuration (
shown above) is 7.3 inches
in diameter and 5.3 inches high (185 x 135 mm). Each design weighs
approximately 1.1 pounds (2.42 kg). Either configuration can be
mounted to a standard marine mount (14 tpi). The
XTracker
Block also can be pipe or rail-mounted with its included ring brackets.
Standard configurations are powered by 12 V DC and can manage input
voltage ranges from 10 to 35 volts. Current draw is 0.002 amps when
in standby mode and 0.083 amps when sending a position report. Thirty
feet of power cable is included with each tracking unit.
The Block configuration is also available with a portable, long-lasting
battery pack (4 week life). The portable pack is housed in an all-weather,
tamper-resistant containers. Of course, both the Block and Dome
configurations can be configured to work with gel, AGM or deep cycle
batteries for semi-permanent installations on barges, trailers or
other assets without their own power source. Battery charge required
for hourly position reporting 0.12 amp hours per 24 hours (3.6 amp
hours per month). Even a 50 amp hour battery would provide uninterrupted,
unattended position reporting for over a year before a recharge
or replacement would be necessary.
XTracker positions are delivered to your web page at OCENS
tracking web site (
http://tracking.ocens.net)
within just seconds of their collection at your vessel or asset.
The most recent position is posted to a world map. Each position
report includes the asset name, latitude/longitude, heading and
speed. Menus on your tracking web site are available to obtain views
of positions and track lines for past periods (days, weeks, even
months). A link to a high resolution Google Earth overlay is also
available from these menus.
