Comparing OneMessage to the standard Iridium Messaging for the GO!

Messaging Features OneMessage from OCENS Iridium
Privacy Person to Person

Texting with OneMessage is like any other texting with which you are familiar. You send a text to a friend..that friend and that friend only receives it.
Person to Machine

Without OneMessage, your messages are going to the GO!, not a specific person using the GO!. Whoever happens to link to the GO! first gets your text, whether or not that’s the person to whom you sent it.
Multi-User Access Allows multi-user access to the GO! for messaging. Up to five OneMessage devices can be connected to the GO! at once. Any user can create, send or check for messages at any time. Inbound messages only go to intended user. Messages cannot be created without control of the GO! GO! is inaccessible to other Iridium messaging users during this time and inbound messages, regardless to whom they were sent, all go to the person in control of the GO!
Many Threads in One Send OneMessage sends all your conversation threads in one dial You need to separately dial/send for each message you send out.
Fast Batching multiple threads into one send not only saves you time and hassle, it speeds up the actual relay because of the compression algorithms used in OneMessage. Each dial takes time to connect before the message is even sent. Connect time costs you money.
Flexible Messages available even when the GO! isn’t. OneMessage can send and receive messages over cellular connections as well. No messages can be received or sent without the GO! present.
Texting the country of Iridium Does not require international texting service on your smartphone People texting you must activate international texting on their smartphone because they are messaging to the ‘country’ of Iridium. Often $10 to $15 per month.
No International Texting Rates Eliminates high per message fees. OneMessage provides unlimited texting for the GO! for FREE. Even if international texting service is active, per message fees are still charged by many cellular carriers.
Mobile and Desktop applications Yes - both Mobile app only, no PC application

OneMessage V2 is available for your desktop computer. This is included with any current versions of WeatherNet and OCENSMail but can be installed on its own.

  • Known Issues:

OneMessage has frozen on the Connect Screen:

This error can occur if you mismatch your Mobile Device and App network settings. For example, if your mobile device is logged into a Satellite Router, and you incorrectly set the App Connection Settings to "Network Connection", the connection will Hang. When you Cancel out of this connection, it will crash or freeze the app. You must force close and restart the app, and set your Mobile Device and App to matching settings.

  • (Force Close on iOS: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201330)
  • Issue: I've set the app to use SideKick, but it gets stuck when I try to connect, or the operation times out.:

First, ensure your device is properly connected to the Sidekick Wi-Fi, (you may need to power down the Sidekick - unplug the satellite phone from the Sidekick - power up the Sidekick and once the Ready light comes on plug the satellit phone into the Sidekick).

    Error: No Satellite Terminal Found

This message indicates you have logged into the OCENS SideKick Router properly, but it is not connecting with your Handset. Check the connection between your SideKick Router and your Handset. Unplug the satellite phone from the Sidekick - power up the Sidekick and once the Ready light comes on plug the satellite phone into the Sidekick

Error: App stuck on "Socket Opened" with SideKick

This should timeout after about 2 minutes. You can Press Cancel Button, or wait for timeout. Check and confirm your handset is hung up/call has ended, if not call is still in progress unplug the USB cable from the satellite phone or your Sidekick - then reconnect cable (this will cancel the call). If App is frozen and you cannot cancel – Force close and restart the app. iOS: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201330

Error: Unable to connect to Network. Please try again. ( sidekick )

This indicates the connection via your OCENS Sidekick was able to reach the handset, but could make a network connection. Check and confirm your handset is turned on, and you have a satellite connection, then try again.
